Gunasekhar Claims That Samantha Was Not His First Choice!

'Shaakunthalam' is one film which raised a lot of buzz ever since it was announced. With Samantha playing the lead role, the expectations were high on this film and Gunasekhar who made super hits like 'Choodalani Vundi' and 'Okkadu' directed it after a long time. His last film was 'Rudramadevi' which came back in 2015. This mythological drama is released by Dil Raju and it is all set to arrive on 14th April.

The veteran filmmaker is giving interviews to media outlets as a part of promotions. He stated that Samantha was not his first choice but his daughter Neelima suggested the star heroine's name. Gunasekhar reportedly got convinced after watched her performance in 'Rangasthalam'. The way Sam turned into a complete village girl has impressed the 'Nippu' director and he explains that it is the main reason to cast her in the lead role.

The senior director stated he wanted to make the movie within 81 days but got postponed due to various reasons. The shooting process took 81 days to get completed but he shocked everyone by saying that the post-production work took more than a year and half.

Music is composed by Mani Sharma while 'Shaakuntalam'. Neelima Guna produced this film while Shekar V Joseph is the cinematographer. Prawin Pudi is the editor while Sai Madhav Burra penned the dialogues. Presented by Dil Raju, Dev Mohan will be seen as Dushyanta. Ananya Nagalla, Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu, Prakash Rah, Gautam, Kabir Bedi, Kabir Singh Duhan and others played key roles.
