
The Covid pandemic is ringing danger bells in the country again. For the past few days, fresh cases have been reported in big numbers. After around five months, over 1100 people are coming in contact with the virus. After a long time, the active cases in the country surpassed the 10,000 mark in India.
The Indian Government and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) swung into action amid the tense situation and issued an advisory for the states and union territories on the Covid situation. Directing them to ensure testing and use of masks, they have written to the governments.
As a safety measure, a nationwide mock drill will be held in all the districts next month. Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan will meet with state health secretaries and senior officers of states and union territories.

More than 1200 cases are reported regularly in the country of late. Yet again 1805 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours. With this, after around four months the active cases count crossed the 10k mark with 10,300 cases. The daily positivity rate and weekly positivity rate in the country increased. For two consecutive days over 1800 cases were reported.
Looking at the rise in the situation, many hospitals in a few major cities started Covid wards again as a safety measure. Earlier, we saw the medical sector getting hard with a flood of cases and hospitalisations.
