For a very long time, there has been a demand that women's IPL should also be started so that Women's cricket will get a big push. Things worked well and the Cricket governing body in India Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) started the bidding for the teams.
Five franchises were introduced in the Women's IPL tournament. Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Lucknow are the teams that were bidded. This resulted in BCCI getting close to around Rs 5,000 crores. The body got a big start for the IPL.
Ahmedabad put in the highest money with around Rs 1289 crores while the Lucknow team bid for Rs 757 crores. In total, the BCCI got 4699.99 crores. The Women's IPL will be started in Summer in March and the players to be a part of the teams would be started in February.
The tournament has been named the Women's Premier League. Even before the tournament was started it fetched close to Rs 5,000 crores. When the players' bidding will start it is expected to see even big numbers. We can understand the craze the tournament is having now.
