Congress Leader's Son Quits Party Amid BBC Documentary Uproar!

No words can describe the sensation the documentary made by BBC on the 2002 Gujarat riots in India. The ruling party said that the documentary has a false narrative and the BBC wants to show fake stories about the riots. The documentary has been banned.

But the issue took an unexpected turn after the son of a senior Congress party leader supported the BJP in this regard and breathed fire on the BBC on the documentary. Saying that he might have issues with the BJP on many issues but he can't see outsiders targeting India.

Arackaparambil Kurien Antony aka AK Antony has been a key leader for the grand old Congress party. He held several key portfolios in his career. He served as a Rajya Sabha member and the Defence Minister of India as well. AK Antony is a part of the social media cell of the Congress party in Kerala.

Now his son Anil K Antony surprised many by quitting the party. Citing the BBC documentary as a reason he said that we cannot let foreign agencies and companies question the Sovereignty of India and that people should not extend their support to this no matter what.

It has to be mentioned here that the Congress party has been trying hard to get the Union Government to lift the ban on the documentary on the Gujarat riots. This did not go well with Anil Antony and had sent his resignation. Taking to social media he shared the resignation letter.

BBC is a celebrated news channel. But that doesn't make it authentic. Earlier the news website faced allegations of twisting facts to get a good narrative. So there are a few questions about the credibility of the channel. Many pieces of work carried out by the BBC landed in quick controversy.

With Anil K Antony stepping down from all his roles in the party a new debate on whether he would take the Bharatiya Janata Party is going on. Many Congress leaders took the BJP route and the possibility cannot be ruled out here. Anything can happen in politics as ‘There are no permanent enemies and no permanent friends in politics.
