YCP Aiming at Dalit Votes with Ambedkar District?

The Andhra Pradesh government had recently announced the new districts in the state for easy administration. The episode gave birth to intense violence and more suggestions and demands on naming the district after big personalities. So far, the big personalities like former CM Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Alluri Sitarama Raju got districts named after them.

As another big move, the Andhra Pradesh government had decided to change the name of the Konaseema district after the father of the Indian Constitution Dr. B R Ambedkar. With this, the district was named "Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema district". Over the past few weeks, several Dalit activists and people are demanding that a district should be named after Ambedkar.

As there is an opinion that Andhra Pradesh might go for an early election, the move might work well for the YSRCP in the next polls. Looking at the statistics of the newly made Ambedkar district, it is having a good number of Dalit and other minority voters.

The minorities have been supporting late YSR and the community started walking with Jagan after he floated his YSRCP. As the new move is expected to cater to the Dalit community, the vote base of the party gets only bigger and stronger.
