14 Years of India's historic T20 Final win against Pakistan

The Team India that had entered the 50 over World Cup in the 2007 edition was out of the tournament after suffering a loss in the knock-out match with Bangladesh. The World Cup loss had left a big toll on the Indian Cricket team. But the Men in Blue had kept its nerve and bounced back. The team had come out of the World Cup horror by winning the inaugural T 20 World Cup in the same year, i.e, 2017.

The new name in the game, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was made the skipper of the Indian team for the tournament and Dhoni scripted history by taking the team filled with young guns towards the victory. The World Cup had marked the era of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the captain.

The historic moment in Indian cricket had completed 14 years. Exactly fourteen years ago on this day, the team India led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni had won the T20 World Cup against the arch-rivals Pakistan.

In the edge of the seat thriller, India crushed Pakistan in the final over. When Pakistan was looking favorites and the match was going Pakistan's way, Indian seamer Joginder Sharma had pulled off a beauty by dismissing Misbah-ul-Haq. Sreesanth's stunning catch needs a special mention here.

In the last over, the equations were six needed from four deliveries. Even the commentators felt that Pakistan can win the game and they are just a strike away from lifting the trophy. While the Pakistan players hoped Misbah-ul-Haq to strike big, Joginder Sharma struck for India and took his wicket.

In their quota, India had managed to put up a score of 157 by losing five wickets. When Pakistan came to chase the target, Indian bowlers gave their best in dismissing the Pakistan batsmen. As a result, Pakistan lost six wickets for 77.

Shifting the momentum towards Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq had targeted the Indian bowlers and took the match to a situation that, in the last over Pakistan needed 13 runs. After sending the second delivery out of the park, Misbah was dismissed on the very next delivery when he tried for a scoop shot.

By defeating Pakistan by five runs, India had lifted the T20 World Cup and kept the record of beating Pakistan in all the World Cup matches it played with India.
