AP Sees a dip in liquor sales in Sankranthi season!

Andhra Pradesh, which usually sees record sales of liquor during the Sankanthai season has failed to recreate the same magic during the 2021 Sankranthi season.

According to the reports, the AP State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) said the 2021 Sankranthi season saw a dip in liquor sales. 4,38,729 cases of liquor and beers were sold in the three days of the festival.

It is said that 4,02,203 cases of liquor and beer were sold in Andhra Pradesh on January 13,14 and 15 which marks Bhogi, Sankranti, and Kanuma days respectively.

Compared to the 2020 Sankranthi season, 36,526 fewer liquor and beer doses were sold in Andhra Pradesh.

Experts are citing the Corona related situations and the hike of liquor prices initiated by the government as a bid to bring down the liquor consumption resulted in the dip in liquor sales.

Despite the dip in liquor sales during the Sankranthi season 2021, East Godavari and West Godavari district stood at the top two places in terms of liquor sales.
