With 18 million, India tops the list of the global diaspora population!The Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) released a report 'International Migration 2020 Highlights' to understand the demographics of the migrants.

According to the UN's report, 18 million people from India are living outside their homeland. The population living outside their homeland is classified as a diaspora population.

As of 2020, 18 million people from India are living outside their homeland, making India the country with the largest diaspora population in the world.

A major portion of the migrants from India are living in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), the United States, and Saudi Arabia, the UN report said.

According to the report, the UAE host the largest number of India's diaspora population with 3.5 million, followed by the United States of America(2.7 million) and Saudi Arabia(2.5 million).

The 'International Migration 2020 Highlights' added that nations like Australia, Canada, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, and the United Kingdom also holds a significant share of the migrants from India.

According to the report, all the countries saw a rise in migrant population between two decades 2000 to 2020, while the United States emerged as the destination for the international migrants.

After India, Germany has the second-largest diaspora population in the world with nearly 16 million, while Saudi Arabia (13 million), Russia (12 million), and the United Kingdom (9 million) took the following next places.
