Trouble In Punjab: Cricketer Rebuffs "Captain"

Punjab, one of the three big states in the Congress kitty, is witnessing interesting political developments these days. Amarinder Singh Government in Punjab is facing trouble from inside. Party's most popular face and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu abstained from the official function organized by the government on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Amarinder is known as Captain in Punjab due to his association with the armed forces.

Siddhu, who has been sulking and is at loggerheads with Amarinder Singh, did not attend the meeting. Siddhu has been keeping away from the party activities and is said to be in touch with the Aam Admi Party of late. Despite the best efforts of the Congress High Command to rehabilitate them in the party, Amarinder has been putting his foot firmly down. Due to the pressure from the party high command, he did invite Siddhu to his home for a luncheon meeting. Even after the meeting, the things did not improve.

Interestingly, former Uttaranchal CM and party incharge for Punjab Harish Rawat, who is said to be diehard Siddhu backer, too did not attend the Guru Nanak Dev birth anniversary celebrations. More interestingly, expelled AAP leader from Delhi, Prashant Bhushan was present at the official meetings as a special invitee.
