YS Jagan Writes To Modi Seeking Bharat Ratna For SPB

Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has written a letter to the prime minister Narendra Modi, seeking the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for SP Balasubramaniam.

In his letter, Jagan wrote, " SPB's untimely departure not only caused much distress to fans and celebrities living India, but also, has affected the international music fraternity. His immense popularity and the deep impact he left on the global music industry in his 50 years of legacy, can be gauged by the continuous flow of rich tributes from the music aficionados all over the world."

Jagan said that Balasubramaniam's service to the people should not be forgotten and as musicians like Lata Mangeshkar and several others were awarded Bharat Ratna, he should also be awarded with the same.

Notably, SPB had won 25 Andhra Pradesh Nandi awards apart from numerous other awards like Filmfare, Silver peacock, etc. SPB was a recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards as well.
