United States Coronavirus Death Toll Passes 200,000

The novel coronavirus is spreading at dangerous rates in the United States. More than 6.8 million people have been affected in the US, more than in any other country. The death toll in the US surpassed 200,000 on Tuesday. The death toll has doubled less than four months after the 100,000 landmark.

President Donald Trump said the new death toll was a horrible thing and claimed China should have stopped the virus.  Meanwhile, Trump has been severely criticised for his handling of the outbreak.

The US announced its first confirmed case on 21 January. Initially, New York was the worst-hit area, but later the cases dropped in New York, and they continue to rose in other parts of the country. So far, 4,346,110 recoveries have been recorded in the country.
