Clarification On Thalapathy Film OTT Release

The Kollywood film industry went berserk after lead actor and producer Suriya decided to stream his movie 'Ponmagal Vandhal' starring Jyothika on Amazon Prime stalling its theatrical release. Theater owners turned red and are threatening to boycott the star's other films. Suriya's 2D Entertainment banner was firm and released it on OTT Amazon Prime without caring the consequences.

Meanwhile another buzz started doing the rounds in Kodambakkam area that Thalapthy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Master' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj will also be released directly on Amazon Prime. Anyhow sources close to the team rubbished the reports stating that the film will stream on the same platform but only after its theatrical run is completed and thus they are waiting for normalcy to return before fixing a release date.

The Distribution company has clarified saying that the Amazon Prime launched the future releases. The Master title they showed in the catalogue is an International film and not ours. We wait for the gala celebrations in Theaters only.

Vijay's latest film ‘Master' was all set to release on April 09 but the Corona pandemic has called for a national lockdown and shattered the plans of the makers. The movie ‘Master' stars Malavika Mohanan as the leading lady and has Vijay Sethupathi in a pivotal role. It remains to be seen when the country comes to normalcy and when the planned movies release!
