Pandemic Dairies: Maharashtra Police Force Reports 222 Infections, 3 Fatalities!

Maharashtra which has been the worst-hit state in the country due to the deadly outbreak of the novel coronavirus made yet another unwanted record. The state reported the highest infections among police personnel.

As per the data released by the Maharashtra Police Department, in the past 48 hours as many as 222 police personnel were found positive for the contagious disease. Three cops working in the Maharashtra Police force succumbed to the virus.

With the new addition of cases, the total infections in the State Police force mounted to 5,935 which indicates an alarming level. On the other hand, so far 74 police personnel lost lives to the virus. The recoveries of force stood at 4,715.

Looking at the cases in Maharashtra, the state has as many as 2,30,599 infections and  9,667 fatalities, which is the highest for any state in the country.

Following the rapid growth of the virus, the government decided to impose a strict lockout in Pune and adjacent Pimpri-Chinchwad region for a period of 10 days. The lockout will come into action from the 13th of July.
