BJP State President Resigns Amid Covid Scandal

In a major shock to both the BJP in general and national president JP Nadda, its Himachal Pradesh state unit president had to resign after he was embroiled in a corruption scandal. The scandal related to the medical supplies during Covid lockdown.

More shockingly, he was till recently the Speaker of the state assembly and national president Nadda specially picked him for the top post in the state. Unfortunately for the party,  video clips showing state president Rajeev Bindal talking about bribe amounts with a contractor surfaced and the person offering the bribe too is a BJP leader. Soon after the shocking revelation, senior party leader and the first BJP CM of the state Shanta Kuma said he was bowing in shame at the corruptions scandal. Soon after this Dr Bindal sent his resignation to JP Nadda, who readily accepted. Though Bindal said he was resigning on moral grounds, this sure is a huge shock for the party.

Bindal is a senior party leader and is a five-time MLA from Solan constituency. He is also an ayurvedic surgeon.  He is among the first appointments to be made by Nadda after taking over reins of the party from Amit Shah.
