CAB is a 'Criminal attack on Northeast': Rahul Gandhi

Former Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Citizenship(Amendment) Bill(CAB) will be tabled in the upper house of the Parliament today.

Rahul took to Twitter to share his opinion on this controversial bill.

"The CAB is a attempt by Modi-Shah Govt to ethnically cleanse the North East. It is a criminal attack on the North East, their way of life and the idea of India. I stand in solidarity with the people of the North East and am at their service," read Rahul's Tweet.

The BJP is confident that the MPs of the National Democratic Alliance(NDA) will vote in favour of the bill. In the alliance, there are parties like All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), YSR Congress Party and Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Amit Shah squashed all the criticism on the controversial bill which is fiercely opposed by the opposition. He has also accused the Congress party on the partition of the country on the grounds of religion.

"Let me tell you why this bill is needed. It is needed because the Congress partitioned this country on the ground of religion…. Who did it? The Congress divided the country on the basis of religion. That was done by the Congress... This is the history," Amit he said.
