Sri Chaitanya, one of the most renowned institutions in education. Leading private equity investor Brookfield and Kalpathi Investments are interested in buying these. PE Investor seems likely to buy Kalpathi Investments for around the $ One billion mark after dropping out of the New Silk Route investment.
The company has successfully managed the K12 school segment in the past. The New Silk Route, which invested nearly $25 million in these schools until 2011, ended just days before.
At the end of the investment period of about eight years, the company and investors decided to quit. MD of the educational institute has quoted their price to Sushma Bopanna. However, it is reported that she has not yet responded to the deal. In India, however, education is the most demanding business. In May last year, a fire at a coaching institute in Surat killed more than 20 students and police has arrested the institute authorities.
Sri Chaitanya Vidyalayas was founded in 1986, by Bopanna Satyanarayana and Jhansi Lakshmi Bai in Vijayawada. Originally founded as a girls' college, it has gradually grown into a force in both Telugu states.
