Remember Chandrababu Naidu's Dharma Porata Deeksha in Delhi? It was held in February this year ahead of the elections. The aim was to corner Modi over special status in Andhra Pradesh. The attempt was aimed at getting Chandrababu Naidu maximum mileage. But, what many do not know is that it is a State Government programme and not a party programme. The whole expenditure was borne by the State Government, which was then under Chandrababu Naidu.

Know how much was spent for the one day programme? A whopping Rs 10 crore. Now, AVS Suryanarayana Raju, a petitioner has approached the High Court demanding action against the spending of such huge amounts. The High Court expressed shock and dismay at spending such huge amounts. It said that no one has the right to waste public money and directed that all the details of the spending be placed before it. The division bench comprising chief Justice Maheshwari and DVS Somayajulu has posted the next hearing to November 21.

The court said that no one has a right to splurge on the tax payers' money. Government counsel Kasa Jagan Mohan Reddy too concurred with the opinion of the division bench. The next hearing in the case would be held on November 21.
