The BJP is giving its best for the elections. The leaders started highlighting the development the party did in the state. Now the Chief Minister of the state surprised many with his daring step. He indicated that the party would bank on two influential communities.
Veerashaiva-Lingayats and Vokkaligas are two influential communities that can be deciding factors in the polls. So the Karnataka government led by Basavaraj Bommai announced that the 4 percent reservation to Muslims would be removed.
The four percent reservation would be given to Veerashaiva-Lingayats and Vokkaligas, two percent each. The reservations will be implemented in jobs and educational institutions admissions. The move would impact the next polls as per the observers.
By removing Muslims from the religious minority, the government moved the community into the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and they will have to share the reservation with the others.
The two communities hold a big position in the state and the government wants to bank on their relevance. However, only the elections will say if the move works or not.
