States like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu reported the highest surge of cases which make these states the worst-affected in terms of positive cases
On the other hand, fatalities also continue to increase rapidly which reached 5,598 with 204 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours which marks the third-highest surge of fatalities so far.
The good news about the virus is that so far as much as 95,526 patients managed to recover from the virus taking the toll of the active cases in the country to 97,581.
The total cases in Andhra Pradesh reached 3676 with 105 fresh cases and two fatalities reported in the past 24 hours which takes the count of the total fatalities in the state to 64. So far 2366 patients were recovered and discharged and the active cases stood at 1246.
The positive cases of the virus in Telangana stood at 2,792 as 94 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours including six fatalities. This latest development takes the fatality toll to 88. On the other hand, 1,491 patients have been discharged from hospitals and the active cases stood at 1,213.
The data collected by the Johns Hopkins University states that India overtook France and became the seventh worst-affected nation in the world while the US remains at the top slot.
Brazil (526,447), Russia (414,328), the United Kingdom (2777,736), and Spain (239,638) are in the next slots followed by the US which has more than 18 lakhs and recorder more than 105,000 lives so far.
While India is at the seventh place in terms of positive cases of the pandemic, the country is still at the 13th place when it comes to fatalities.
