YS Jagan Bans Bauxite Mining In AP

On November 5th, 2015, Then TDP Government permitted APMDC to mine bauxite ore in over 1,200 hectares of forest area in Chintapalle and Jerella, Visakha District. Tribals, Social/Environmental Activists and NGOs launched a protest against GO 97 allowing AP Mineral Development Corporation to carry out bauxite mining.

Inspite of repeated assurance by then CM Chandrababu Naidu to Tribals, Bauxite Mining continued to happen in the state. Demands of Opposition Parties to withdraw the controversial GO 97 were neglected completely by the previous government.

In less than 45 Days after his swearing-in ceremony, YS Jaganmohan Reddy imposed a ban on Bauxite Mining in AP by withdrawing GO 97. He passed strict instructions to the concerned authorities to take strong action against illegal bauxite mining. Chief Minister also advised Cops to visit the tribal areas frequently to maintain good relations with the people.

By now, People of AP got to know who is the real People's Chief Minister. Let's only wish Jagan corrects all the other anti-people activities of the previous government at the earliest!
