President Donald Trump honoured Conan a US military dog that played a starring role in the raid that killed the Islamic State group's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

'It was a flawless attack, al-Baghdadi's gone, and we gave Conan a medal and a plaque. He's a very, very special dog,' the president said at the White House about the Belgian Malinois.

After meeting with Special Forces troops in the White House in the Rose Garden ceremony, Trump Said, 'He's an incredible dog. We're very honoured to have Conan here and to give Conan an award.'

Conan performed a tremendous service in tracking down Baghdadi in a tunnel beneath his compound.  Baghdadi was killed by an explosion he set off, killing two children in the process and wounding Conan.
