After the humiliating defeat in 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, Rahul Gandhi took the decision to resign as Congress President taking responsibility for failure to restore the lost glory of the national party.

RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav opined Rahul Gandhi's decision isn't only suicidal for Congress but all the forces fighting against the Sangh Parivar. 'If Congress appoints Non-Gandhi as a Party President, Political Opponents would treat the new Chief as the puppet of Gandhi Family. It's like giving an opportunity for BJP and falling in it's trap,' he said.

Lalu Prasad Yadav advised Rahul Gandhi to treat the resounding victory of NDA Government as a collective failure. He went on to say, 'Lack of common agenda among Opposition Parties led to poor performance. Failing to choose a PM Candidate is a major flaw. Regional Parties have the right to bargain for more seats but they shouldn't have committed the blunder of failing to project a leader who has a national perspective as the PM Candidate'.

Rahul Gandhi is adamant on his resignation. Congress Leadership is busy identifying the Leader who could lead the party during this tough phase.
