Putting an end to the speculations, Sumalatha ruled out any possibility of joining BJP. She is keen to continue as an Independent MP representing Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency in the Lower House.

The Senior Actress opined Kannadigas hasn't accepted Congress-JD (S) Alliance and that is why the National Party has under-performed in the Lok Sabha Polls. According to her, Congress could have won 10 MP Seats had if there is no tie-up with JD (S). A huge price was paid for sacrificing many winning seats to it's alliance partner.

Sumalatha feels BJP won 25 out of 28 MP Seats in Karnataka not because of People's Support but due to the opportunities given by Congress-JD (S) Combine.

Congress couldn't break the alliance with JD (S) as it leads to the collapse of the government. Both these parties need to travel together until next elections or else BJP will comeback to power.
