2.0 Also Ends Up Like Baahubali There!

China market is the second largest for films in the World after Hollywood. It doesn't have the global reach but just within the country it is putting up 500 Million USD, 750 Million USD range collections for their biggest hits.

Even Marvel films, Fast & Furious films, Jurassic World films and many other big budget films tend to open in China and see that they hit 100 Million USD there.


Venom failed getting critical acclaim but succeeded in gaining profits in China. Actually, Sony could promote the film as a major financial success because of China.

Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, Dangal, Secret Superstar became huge hits in China and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan also became a huge success.

But their other films did not. SRK has good number of fans there but does not have a huge market. SS Rajamouli's Baahubali failed to tap into huge market there while it did well in Japan.

2.0, which was published as Rajnikanth and Shankar's trendy answer to folklore Baahubali, had similar fate in China. Even though it got a huge release, it just collected 3 Million USD for the weekend and it has to collect more than 10 Million USD to ring in profits, it seems.

Shankar has a dream of releasing his films in China and scoring big there. He made most of his 'I' film in the country and wanted to see, if he can gain market there. Even his next big bid, 2.0, seems to have bitten dust there.
