This has let the cat among the pigeons in Tamil Nadu with the Opposition parties slamming the superstar. Former finance minister P Chidambaram termed Rajinikanth as being a puppet in the hands of the BJP. He said Rajini has taken it upon himself the 'communal' agenda of the BJP. He said he was disappointed by Rajini's comments. His son Karthi Chidambaram also criticised Rajini. The CPM also criticised Rajinikanth. CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said that while Rajini was free to support whatever he wants, he should realise that the CAA was anti-Muslim.
On Wednesday, Rajini had said that CAA was not anti-Muslim and that he would be the first one to fight if there was any injustice to Muslims in the CAA. The statement showed that Rajini is steadily moving towards the BJP in the poll-bound Tamil Nadu.
