Remaking South films and scoring hits became a trend in Bollywood. Following the same path, controversial hero Sanjay Dutt remade Sharwanand's film 'Prasthanam' but the result was went the wrong way.

Starring Sharwa and Sai Kumar in the lead roles, 'Prasthanam' directed by Deva Katta gained appreciation from the critics and received many awards. Nearly after a decade, Sanjay Dutt decided to remake this film and even brought the original version's director onboard. He produced the film too and expected it to give the same result. But, the film was an outright disaster with every reviewer thrashing the film.

It collected just 3 crores in its first weekend and is expected to end up in losses. The makers are at fault too as the promotions were ignored and film went unaware despite some heavy star cast. On the whole, Sanjay Dutt scores another disaster after 'Kalank'.
