At least two key leaders - former Uttarakhand CM Harin Rawat and key leader from UP, Jitin Prasada - have spoken in favour of a temple at Ayodhya. Both told the Congress Party's key meeting to finalise party's stand on Ayodhya that they are in favour of the temple. Another key leader and three-time CM of Assam, Tarun Gogoi said that the party should take all opinions and the emotions of the people into account while formulating its stance. His son Ranjan Gogoi is the chief justice who is going to deliver the all-important verdict on the temple. Tarun Gogoi's statements, though couched in careful words, indicate that he is in favour of the temple.
The Congress senior leadership saw leaders like Jyothiraditya Scindia, Bhupinder Hooda and Amarinder Singh speaking in support of the abrogation of the Article 370 and Article 35 A. This time around the voices are expected to be stronger and more strident as Ayodhya is a very emotive issue in the North India.
