Following this, the Anantapur district police officer's association has threatened to file a defamation case against the former MP if he did not apologize unconditionally over his derogatory comments on the cops.
Diwakar Reddy faced unexpected wrath from the YSRCP leader and MP who represents the Hindupur constituency, Gorantla Madhav.
He held a press conference to respond to these derogatory statements and in a shock to everyone, the MP cleaned the shoes of the police officer as a token of respect for their sacrifices to the nation.
"I kiss the boots of policemen who have sacrificed their lives in the process of saving the lives of the people and in protecting the nation's sovereignty and integrity,"MP said.
"I made the comments out of anguish. I might have slipped my tongue, but one should understand the spirit of my comments. There is no need to react so strongly," he added.
