Even otherwise the party is in dire straits in Jharkhand. Only one of the seven Congress candidates who have contested the elections for the Lok Sabha elections are with the party. Two candidates - Manoj Yadav and Sukhdeo Bhagat - have joined the BJP. Ajoy Kumar, who was the PCC chief during the Lok Sabha elections, has left the Congress to join the Aam Admi Party. Another candidate Arun Oraon, who is also the secretary of the AICC, has also resigned from the Congress. Though he has not joined any party so far, his leaving is a serious blow for the party.
Even more intriguing is the behaviour of the former union minister Subodh Kant Sahai. He had contested on Congress Party ticket for the Lok Sabha. The latest news about him is that he is active in the Trinamool Congress and is attending their workers meeting. The only leader of any worth that the Congress has now is former cricketer Kirthi Azad. He too has shifted his base to Delhi. The Congress, which is going in for a key election, is almost an orphan in the state.
